After spending a bit over 100 hours with this console, I think I’m entitled to my own opinion. So, reader, stay tooned and find out how this beefed-up Switch held up in its first 100 hours of use.
What we will cover:
- Wear & tear
- Ergonomics
- Games catalog
Hey, hi, and wazza!!!
I’m happy to say I finally spent 100 hours with this glorious second-gen hybrid console. There were some ups and downs, but overall, I’m in love. But why? Read on and find out!
Wear & tear

First of all, yes, I’m one of those people that doesn’t use any kind of case or screen protector. You can call it lazy, or as I call it, a lifelong durability test. With that being said, let’s dive deep into all the carnage caused by my grubby hands! Welp, sorry to disappoint, but there is no carnage. I didn’t baby my console by any means. It has been thrown, sat on, slammed in a backpack, and nothing yeah, you heard right, not a single visible scratch. So if you’re thinking of buying this magic box and you’re like me, I can vouch you’ll be fine! I would still say get a screen protector for it just in case, but overall, this console is a beast! Speaking of beasts, how did my beastly hands fare with the ergonomics?
Ergonomics

Wow! This didn’t take long… my first sour point… literally! The ergonomics are way better than the Nintendo Switch 1, but uff, they leave a lot of room for improvement. I have average-sized hands with some chunky sausage fingers, and oh boy, playing the Switch 1 for more than an hour was a full-on dead-hand cramp fest. But the Nintendo Switch 2, with its bigger size, fixes a lot in terms of comfort… but still, it hurts so good! If you have medium to large hands, for the love of God, get a grip! I still haven’t gotten a grip, but I did order one so review coming soon!
But same as with the old Switch, if you have small hands, this will be awesome in terms of ergonomics and will feel oh so good!
The takeaway being: medium-large hands = big ouch, small hands = great success! Anyways… get a grip!
Games Catalog

Now this is a weird one. The games catalog is technically smaller than the Nintendo Switch 1 catalog, but with every new patch there are dozens of games fixed for the Switch 2. But let’s focus on the Switch 2 upgrades and exclusives, because this is the gold we’ve been searching for! In the first 2 months, Nintendo released some true bangers! I personally played Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and my Shyla Cyberpunk 2077. And I’m happy to say each one was better than the last! The performance was bomb, the graphics were awesome, and the gameplay satisfying! Plus, you still have that massive backlog you haven’t touched yet to play through, so get gaming, samurai!
Now, the elephant in the room: Switch 2 upgrades. Yes, they cost money (some don’t I love you No Man’s Sky). 9,99€ to play Legends of Zelda: TOTK at 60 fps at a higher res and Switch app integration… honestly, I ain’t mad about that! I also tested out some free upgrades like No Man’s Sky and Splatoon 3, and boy, are they awesome! No Man’s Sky looks and plays like a dream (comparable to Xbox Series S and better than Steam Deck), and Splatoon feels ever so nice at 1080p 60fps with improved motion controls!
Overall, I’m very satisfied with the games catalog, and I haven’t even mentioned the upcoming releases! (That’s a whole blog in itself, coming soon!)
Conclusion
Overall, the 100-hour experience was very fun and super satisfying. I haven’t endured any major bugs and, surprisingly, not a single crash (they were very common on NS1). Like I mentioned in the ergonomics tab, the overall handheld use of the console was great, but the shape still leaves room for improvement. I can’t wait for my grip to arrive. I really hope that they release a hori Split Pad Pro for the Switch 2, as that would fix everything except make it a tad bit less portable.
